When Is LANTRA Courses Necessary?

 NPORS Training

Lantra training is necessary when there is a need to demonstrate competence, comply with health and safety law, or meet client and site-specific requirements in construction, plant, or land-based work. It is commonly required where individuals operate plant or machinery, carry out higher-risk activities, or need formal proof of training for site access, audits, or insurance purposes. Many employers and principal contractors accept Lantra qualifications as evidence that workers have been properly trained and, where relevant, assessed as competent. In practice, Lantra training is used whenever there is a requirement to show that work can be carried out safely, correctly, and in line with legal and contractual obligations.

What Is Required For LANTRA Courses?

 NPORS Training

Requirements for Lantra training vary depending on the specific course, but generally learners must meet a minimum age requirement, provide valid identification, and, where applicable, have any required prior experience or qualifications. For practical courses, particularly those involving plant or machinery, learners must be physically able to carry out the tasks safely and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Participants must also have a sufficient level of English to understand instructions and complete any assessments. Training must be taken through an approved Lantra provider, and in most cases learners will be required to complete and pass a written, practical, assessment in order to achieve certification.
